$1 Million Dollar Trucking Accident Settlement

Michigan Lawyer Jason Waechter settled a Truck/Motorcycle accident case for one million dollars. In the recent past at 5:37 a.m., Plaintiff was operating his 1998 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with headlights on, going straight in the westbound curb lane of Southfield Road near its intersection with Dix Avenue. Witness testified that this intersection was fairly well lit at the time of the accident, both by street lights and by lights at a business on the northeast corner of Dix and Southfield Roads.

Defendant was operating a tractor pulling a semitrailer (a large commercial freight hauling truck commonly known as a big rig or semi), both owned by the Defendant's transport company of employment, in the immediately adjacent second lane of westbound Southfield Road. Suddenly, the Defendant made a right turn from the second lane of travel for westbound Southfield Road onto northbound Dix Avenue and drove the truck/semitrailer directly into the path of Plaintiff’s motorcycle, causing Plaintiff to collide with the passenger side door area of the tractor, and causing Plaintiff to sustain severe and permanent injuries.

Significantly, Defendant admitted in a signed statement describing the “Details of the Incident,” that he was in the wrong lane when he suddenly noticed that he had to make a right turn on Dix Road.

He states as follows: “As I was travelling North, I saw that after exit 41 on I-75 the highway was closed. I had to take the exit 41 which led me onto Southfield. As I was headed west on Southfield, suddenly my GPS informed me to take a right on Dix, which meant I would have to be driving on the furthest right lane and I had to change my lanes from the middle to the right…. ”

The Defendant received a citation for the accident and Jason Waechter went on to settle the case earning the Plaintiff one million dollars.
